Description

The Mobile Organic Biofilm (MOB System™) is an aerobic wastewater treatment intensification technology which supports enhanced treatment with no additional tankage. An organic biofilm carrier freely circulates throughout the entirety of the secondary treatment process providing great benefits in both biological treatment and secondary sludge settlement. Advantages of retrofitting the MOB Process into existing sewage works include increased flow-to-full-treatment, reduced combined sewer overflows, and intensified biological nutrient removal. The presentation will provide an overview of the technology and it's unique characteristics relative to other IFAS systems. A large emphasis will be placed on the 18-month MOB Process demonstration at Truckee Meadows Regional Reclamation Facility. This facility sees an average flow of 114,000 m^3/day. Lessons from commissioning and operation will be shared as well as opportunities for low temperature nitrification and improved secondary sludge settleability. Key design and operational considerations will be discussed along with the technology's relevance for wider water company investment programmes – supporting sustainable, lower build, lower carbon options.
