Description

In AMP7, Severn Trent Water accepted low total phosphorus final effluent permits in the range as low as 0.17 mg/L, the majority of which are 0.2 mg/L and delivered by the end of the AMP7 period. This challenge was accomplished using a few sustainable techniques including biological phosphorus removal, chemical phosphorus removal, bio-P enhancement techniques such as fermentation.  Case studies using different treatment techniques will be presented as demonstrations including:
-    Bilsthorpe STW or Kirton in Lindsey STW-> crude and pre-dosed TSR biofilter treatment works.
-    Haxey Graizelound STW-> UCT EBPR and a polishing iron dosed TSR
-    Pinxton STW-> Carbonaceous EBPR, primary sludge fermenter, nitrifying biofilter and a polishing iron dosed TSR
-    Loughborough STW-> A2O EBPR, side stream RAS fermenter and a pre dosed TSR.
-    Grendon STW-> Alternating double ditch, DNML fermenter and pre dosed TSR.
