Description
The Mecana Pile Cloth Media Filtration (PCMF) is well proven as an economical and efficient solution for the removal of solids from wastewater; to date the UK application has been focused on tertiary treatment and notably the removal of Phosphorus. More recently there has been a media driven focus on the discharge of untreated ‘stormwater’ into watercourses and the resultant impact on water quality. As a result stormwater treatment has become a key part of AMP8.
This presentation will focus on American applications of the AquaStorm® system, based on the Mecana Pile Cloth Media Filter, where it is proven for the treatment of stormwater discharges. The AquaStorm® system achieves high removal efficiencies providing a high quality effluent, equal to that of secondary treatment to US standards, even under varying influent conditions. The AquaStorm® technology provides removal in a physical separation process, without chemical addition, with the average concentration being <45 mg/L for both TSS and BOD. This presentation will provide an overview of the technology, present case studies and provide updates to our progress with UK trials and installations.
