Description
In our presentation, we will explore how nature can help us achieve the Sustainable Development Goals 3, 6, 11, 13 and 14. We will provide a comprehensive overview of various nature-based solutions, examining their effectiveness in removing a range of emerging contaminants from water and wastewater. Our focus will be on key contaminants such as PFAS, microplastics, and pharmaceuticals. We will use research papers and secondary data to draw conclusions and identify key takeaways. Additionally, we will offer suggestions on how nature-based solutions can address and mitigate the negative environmental and health impacts of emerging contaminants.Furthermore, we will discuss the impact of nature-based solutions on enhancing storm resilience, reducing strain on our infrastructure, and mitigating the effects of climate change. To conclude our presentation, we will present a balanced argument, including a cost-benefit analysis, comparing nature-based solutions with traditional methods for removing emerging contaminants.
