Description

At EWWM 2024, the Process Emissions Action Community (PEAC) was born. The group has had a low N2O working group over the past 12 months who have developed a consensus based ‘Low N2O Design’ document through project work together in a voluntary capacity which we believe is a first global attempt at this. The work makes key considerations for low(er) N2O design – with the objective of the group to share this with the industry and support low N2O design to be the business as usual consideration that it needs to be. The presentation will focus on the key learnings from this process – presenting the Low N2O Design Guidance document and an overview of the best science evidence and examples the group has drawn on to inform this from global work on N2O, including emerging protocols and guidance for N2O monitoring. The presentation will cover the ‘catalogue’ of low(er) N2O design ideas focuses across all stages of design from conceptual through to detailed considerations – with key considerations for different asset types and treatment considerations. Attendees will come away with real world examples, ideas for considering low(er) N2O design in their day to day work and considerations for how these principles can be applied into day to day process design and design risk. Authors also hope that the presentation will inspire the necessary collaboration within industry practitioners that supports the learning and knowledge sharing for more climate action today.
