Description

With over 80 years of expertise, Chemviron is a leading provider of activated carbon solutions for air and water purification and of recycling services of spent activated carbons through thermal reactivation. Chemviron’s technology helps wastewater facilities, industrial plants, and remediation sites meet strict environmental regulations. Activated carbon purifies water by removing a wide range of impurities: e.g., taste and odour, disinfection by-products, pesticides, numerous non-biodegradable organic chemicals, emerging contaminants, and hormone disruptors. Proven through years of research and field application, FILTRASORB® effectively removes per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS) from industrial activities, landfill discharges, spills and fire-fighting foams. Foremost, FILTRASORB® is thermally reactivable after use, allowing ultimate destruction of PFAS molecules. Effective PFAS destruction during reactivation (in excess of 99.9 %) was demonstrated through pioneering studies conducted in our full-scale reactivation facilities, the details of which will be communicated here. This shall be great news for both the public and the industry: i.e. FILTRASORB® plus reactivation appears to be a relevant, sustainable contribution to help resolve the challenge of PFAS in water, ensuring the destruction of these molecules and preventing their recurrence in the environment, with minimal waste and up to five times less CO2 footprint in operations.
