Description
In response to growing challenges related to water scarcity, water reuse requires reliable, high-performance treatment technologies capable of meeting a wide range of end uses. In this context, BIO-UV Group, a specialist in water disinfection solutions using ultraviolet technology, plays a central role in the European LIFE ReWa project led by the Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole Water Utility.
BIO-UV supplied and integrated its UV-C RW reactor at the core of a mobile recycled water production unit. This chemical-free disinfection technology, recognized for its high microbiological efficiency and absence of disinfection by-products, ensures the sanitary safety of treated wastewater and enables its reuse for demanding urban, agricultural and industrial applications.
The LIFE ReWa mobile unit, equipped with BIO-UV’s UV-C systems, is designed to test and validate different treatment trains combining ultrafiltration and UV disinfection. This approach makes it possible to define several levels of recycled water quality, tailored to specific uses such as street and public space cleaning, irrigation of green areas and agriculture, sewer flushing, industrial applications or firefighting.
Through its proven expertise in UV disinfection and the deployment of robust, scalable solutions, BIO-UV Group actively contributes to the development of treatment protocols and best practices for safe and sustainable water reuse, positioning UV-C technology as a key pillar of future recycled water projects in Europe.
